Program

Colony Protection

Reduce disturbance and strengthen stewardship around breeding colonies.

Conservation workers observing an African penguin colony from a protected viewing area.

Problem

Penguin colonies are vulnerable to disturbance, unmanaged tourism pressure, heat events, predators, and gaps in protected-area capacity.

What SAPA does

SAPA supports signage, responsible-tourism guidance, monitoring, local stewardship training, and field equipment for partner teams.

Why it matters

This program connects donor support to practical conservation conditions: less disturbance, better evidence, stronger partners, and more resilient colonies.
